My Approach
I structure treatment to meet the individual needs and goals of my clients. For the first 2-3 sessions, I will focus on getting to know you and your concerns so that we can collaboratively establish a treatment plan. For some clients, that may include filling out self-report questionnaires and establishing a diagnosis to assist with treatment planning.
My approach begins with developing a safe therapeutic relationship. My goal is to guide you towards making changes that ease your suffering and enhance your well-being so that you can lead a fulfilling life. As a clinician and a researcher, I use treatments that are well supported by research, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural therapies, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy.
